GTA Online Tips: Making Killer GTA Online Deathmatches with the Creator
Rockstar Games recently patched Grand Theft Auto V to give players the power to create their very own deathmatches. Creating your own deathmatches may be tricky and frustrating at times. So, to help out, Rockstar Games has released a GTA Online tips guide on creating death matches. Here are some of the tips Rockstar Games recommend:
Design Tips:
- Equality: First off, when creating your map you have to think of creating a nice balance. Nobody likes having the odds stacked against them, make sure when creating spawn points that they are fair. They don’t offer any advantage or disadvantage to players.
- Small Map: A small map maybe the way to go. Having a nice big open match is great in theory, but in reality it’s a bit tedious. It’s a pain to run around in a lot of space with no other players in sight. A small, contained map where everybody is near one another is a great way to bring the fun and the action.
- Less Players: Waiting around isn’t very fun. When creating your map consider lowering the player threshold. If you have a small map there’s no real need to have a bunch of players in it. A small number will do. The only exception is if you are playing on a bigger map. A big map = more players, a small map = fewer players.
- Terrain: When picking your spot to create your map, make it in a spot that is in an interesting area. Give players the option to snipe in high areas, and give players the option to sneak up on the opposition in low areas.
- Power Weapons: Consider putting powerful weapons in hard to reach areas.
- Market: You put in all the time making the perfect map; make sure people know that it’s there. Give your map a clever title, a well written description, let your crew members know about it, and let your Social Club friends know about it. The tools are out there, promote your work.
After following these tips and you have your map all ready to go, now it’s time to test it out. Hitting the test button allows you to play it against the AI opposition. If you like what you see after testing it out, you can publish it, but don’t be afraid to change your map or continue to tweak it.
Even after you’ve published your map, you can get your friends to play it, they can offer you feedback and you can continue to make adjustments. Also, it would be a good idea to write notes that way returning players know what adjustments you’ve made and it shows that you care about your product.
