PS4 vs Xbox One: Why The Feud Shouldn’t Matter

PS4 vs Xbox One.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t get console wars. They have been ongoing ever since I can remember but the most prevalent of any of these wars is the battle between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. With the dawning of a new generation of consoles we now are witness to the new war between the PS4 and the Xbox One. Even though we haven’t even had the opportunity to get a hands on look at these consoles, people are still making conclusions and picking sides in this newly birthed feud. So far, the consensus is PS4 all the way. Gamers are mostly leaning towards the PS4 because of three things, its ability to play used games, not having to be online to play games offline and the

fact that it’s 100 dollars cheaper. This does look promising but that doesn’t mean the Xbox One should be put down or completely forgotten. I personally don’t get all the hate and flack towards the Xbox One. What people are really forgetting about when they get caught up in picking sides in this pointless disagreement is that it shouldn’t be about the consoles first, it is ultimately about the games.

I personally own an Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii simply because of that fact. Yes I do play my Xbox 360 more because it is what was the main gaming staple in my house ever since I really got into gaming, but I went out of my way to get the other two consoles. They all have so much to offer. Most people get way too caught in picking sides when all they have seen are press conferences. You must take into account that you haven’t played the games, you haven’t even touched the consoles and we are still 5 to 6 months from these consoles even being released. Yes Microsoft has made some questionable choices with the Xbox One but they may even go back on those choices and allow for used games or even more.

Gamers in general should be getting excited rather than pointing fingers and judging what they think is superior or inferior. Just look at what has been displayed to us in these first few days at E3. Microsoft has announced various titles such as a new Halo game, Dead Rising 3 and Quantum Break. Sony has announced a new Final Fantasy and even Kingdom Hearts 3. EA has announced that they will be producing a new Star Wars Battlefront and Nintendo has announced that Mega Man will be in the Super Smash Bros game for the Wii U.

We should celebrate everything that is coming rather than segregating and putting most of it down. We have new consoles coming out this year that are capable of so much. We have the Wii U announcing so many incredible and exciting titles. And the OUYA looks absolutely great and a welcome addition to the gaming systems of this day and age. Gaming has a very promising and exciting future that we should all be looking forward to. In conclusion, remember this: play games for the games, not the console.
