The 2D top-down action indie game that has already won over critics and gamers is now available.

DUNDEE, Scotland and SAN FRANCISCO – October 24, 2012 – Hotline Miami has just been released and is already winning over both critics and gamers. Developer Dennaton Games’ widely popular game was developed using YoYo games software, GameMaker. Hotline Miami is currently available to purchase for PC via steam or GoG for $9.99.

Hotline Miami places the player in the hands of a violent murderous brute, set in an alternate 1989 Miami. The stylish 2D top-down action takes cues from films such as “Drive” and “Cocaine Cowboys.” The two person team of Dennaton Games, consisting of Jonatan “Cactus” Söderström and Dennis Wedin have a long history of working with GameMaker.

“GameMaker is fantastic. I honestly am not sure I would even be able to make games if it weren’t for GameMaker,” said Jonatan “Cactus” Söderström, co-creator of Hotline Miami.

Hotline Miami has gathered momentous accolades including Rezzed “Game of the Show” from Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun and the “Most Fantastic Game Award” from Fantastic Arcade 2012. It has also been an “Official Selection” at both Indiecade 2012 and Darkcade 2012.

Hotline Miami is already shaping up to be critically acclaimed, with high scores given by Eurogamer 10/10, IGN 8.8 and with a current metacritic rating of 87 it shapes up to become an instant classic.

“It’s hugely rewarding to see cutting edge titles like Hotline Miami being created with GameMaker,” said Sandy Duncan, chief executive officer at YoYo Games. “Hotline Miami follows in the footsteps of other indie developer smashes such as Derek Yu’s “Spelunky” and Vlambeer’s “Super Crate Box.” These are cult hits where gameplay comes first, showcasing the versatility and power that GameMaker’s intuitive approach and deep functionality provide.”

I've been a gamer since the NES days where I still love my retro games today. I'm an all-rounder when it comes to genre but my favorite types are story-driven games. I'm pretty competitive when it comes to playing online so be sure to bring it!
