The twisted minds behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent just released a trailer for the sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Just in time for Halloween, which was mighty thoughtful of them. If you don’t really like sleeping at night, if you feel like changing your pants or if you like watching screens through your fingers then take a look at the trailer, you brave soul.
The trailer shows some things that should be familiar to Amnesia: The Dark Descent fans: poorly lit levels, narrow corridors, and scary noises. The pig noises were pretty horrifying, and the dialogue at the end was also quite creepy. I never played the original Amnesia because I don’t know why in the world someone would choose to be scared out of their minds. I watched other people play the game on YouTube, and even then I had to cover my eyes in some parts because that game is nightmare-inducing.
I suppose that in the minds of the developers they did their job well, since there are thousands of videos documenting the success of this horrifying game. Men and women around the world can be seen screaming or throwing down the mouse as they run away, which is all in a good day’s work for the developer Frictional Games. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs looks to be scarier than its predecessor because of the larger environments and those terrifying pig noises. According to the trailer, the game will come out sometime in 2013, which seems like a just enough time for people to recover from the last title in the Amnesia series.
