For Part 3, EA has treated us to the core gameplay features in Dead Space. They tell us how the heads-up display (HUD) was developed to keep us immersed and what kind of weapons they decided to give us in the end – gotta love Stasis.
SPEAKING OF HUD, ever notice how Dead Space has a minimal HUD? Even the health bar and stasis bar are on Isaac’s back. EA was very intentional about this to help allow for immersion into the gameplay. Most games have a clunky, or rather more clunky, HUD than Dead Space.
Further more into core gameplay, EA took Isaac’s background, as a miner, and used that to outfit his arsenal.
HIS WEAPONS ARE MODIFIED TOOLS. Then as the game progresses he is able to upgrade them at special weapon benches. Who doesn’t like upgrading a laser cutter?
Stasis, in particular, is another element to the game that has brought great joy to each and every player of the Dead Space series. Whether it’s slowing down faulty machinery or for getting that nice limb shot off, Stasis is what you need.
LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, the zero-gravity portions of the game have always been a treat helping the player feel even more immersed in that sense of being lost in space. EA really did their research well. No gravity in a zero-gravity area, who knew!?
