Conquering large cities and battling massive armies is about to get a whole lot bigger when the hit Sid Meier creation, Civilization hits the MMO scene.
Crytek is teaming up with 2K studios, the folks behind Borderlands, and Cry ENGINE to create Civilization Online. The massively multi-player online game will remain true to everything loved by the original games. With huge maps to traverse and gigantic armies to command.
Civilization first hit shelves in 1991 and now after 22 years the popular RTS is coming to the MMO world. Not much about the game is known, we don’t even have a release date yet. But, rest assured that with Civilizations record so far, Civilization Online is sure to be a fantastic game.
So far the only thing that has surfaced on the internet is a short 41 second trailer depicting armies fighting each other with tanks and gunmen.
Areil Cai, Crytek’s Director of Business Development – CryENGINE, said,
“As a series, Civilization has stood the test of time and continued to captivate gamers down the years. We believe that with CryENGINE technology, XLGAMES’ experience in the online arena and the rich gameplay opportunities offered by Civilization, Civilization Online will be a perfect combination of the three.”
Other details around the net tell of four civilizations to choose from and proceed through the Ancient, Classical, Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial, and Modern eras.
Reports say that the master behind the other Civilization games, Sid Meier, is not behind this game.
