POKÉMON EXPANDS ITS ANIMATION OFFERINGS AND REACH AROUND THE WORLD

The Pokemon Company International was excited to announce a large deal at MIPTV, which includes Video-on-demand, Film, and TV series deals. Also part of the announcement was the reveal of its newest animated feature, Pokemon the Movie: Dianche and the Cocoon of Destruction which has become available for license. The new movie will feature familiar characters such as Ash, Pikachu, and others from Pokemon X and Y.

The new deal includes Netflix and Hulu, while fans of the series have had the chance to watch the seasons and movies on the streaming services since February and March. The new Pokemon TV application also launched on iOS and android devices in 2013.

Russian fans will be happy to know that a deal with 2×2 will bring Pokemon: XY on air this September. Along with this recent season the number of Pokemon episodes that have aired since the original now totals 800. 2×2 will be joining other European partners such as CITV, Gulli, YEP!, Clan TV, TV4 in Sweden, TV2 in Norway, and in Belgium CLUB RTL, and of course Disney XD in other countries.

The Pokemon franchise has spanned all forms of media to Video games and toys, with Pokemon X and Y being the fastest selling Nintendo 3DS title, with 12 million copies sold since October 2013. With more than 20 billion Pokémon TCG cards shipped globally and animation that has been licensed in more than 160 countries and 30 languages, Pokemon plans on being around for a long time.
