Alienware, AMD, Logitech, Andrea Electronics, and Reverb Publishing have gotten together to put on a contest for Ravaged, Reverb Publishing’s latest game. They want entrants to put together a 60 to 90 second spot for their game that focuses on Ground Combat, Vehicular Combat, Arial Combat [sic], Iconic Areas, and Serious Pwnage. These are their words, not mine. I’m guessing they meant “aerial” combat, although watching the letters of the font Arial fight would be intriguing. Say what you will about fonts, but in a fight between Comic Sans, Futura, and Arial, my money is on Arial. That font is a scrapper. The goal here is for entrants to put together a video promoting various parts of Ravaged gameplay, which could be either a great marketing strategy or just a cheap way to get your product associated with amatuer trailers. Probably both. Players who enter this competition can win fabulous prizes.
- First Place Award: Four copies of Ravaged, one Alienware X-51 Mini Gaming Desktop, one Andrea Electronics SuperBeam SB-805B Ravaged-branded headset
- Second Place Award: Two copies of Ravaged, one AMD Radeon HD 7870 graphics card, one Andrea Electronics SuperBeam SB-805B Ravaged-branded headset, one Logitech® G19 Keyboard, and one Logitech® Wireless Gaming Mouse G700
- Third Place Award: Two copies of Ravaged, one Andrea Electronics SuperBeam SB-805B Ravaged-branded headset, one Logitech® Optimal Gaming Mouse G400, one Logitech® Keyboard for Gaming G510
For anyone who doesn’t know what Ravaged is about, it’s a first person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. A unique concept! I bet the people who made this game would love Fallout. It’s a lesser known title, so I understand if they haven’t heard about it. I suppose there is always the chance that they are aware of it, and are looking to recreate its monetary success by cloning all of the familiar elements. But maybe I’m just being cynical.
