The best of E3 2012 recipient, Ravens Cry , has finally received a release date of May 7, 2014.
The third-person, RPG action-adventure from developer Reality Pump and publisher TopWare Interactive AG is set in the 17th Century Caribbean. It does have pirates, which may instantly trigger thoughts of Pirates of the Caribbean, and the game is rumoured to have historically accurate architecture.
You play as Christopher Raven, a Scottish boy, who boards a ship with his family bound for the New World in an effort to escape the famine of the time. Their ship gets attacked by the pirates near Jamaica, and Christopher is left as the sole survivor. It’s cliche, except that Christopher has lost his left hand. The player sets out to seek vengeance on the pirates.
“The idea for Raven’s Cry gives us the opportunity to create our very own image of the Caribbean and piracy, far removed from all the family idylls,” said Tadeusz Zuber, head of the development team. “Christopher is tormented by his own demons and external threats – and our goal is to make these realistic enough to be actually ‘felt’ by the player. Christopher is a man trapped in the chains of his own demons – and the only way to break these chains, it seems, is the path of violence and revenge which he has chosen.”
The game will be available on PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3.
