CES 2013: Captivating, Exhilarating, Stunning

CESThe Consumer Electronics Association were proud to announce that the International CES of 2013 has become the largest in the show’s 45 plus years. The 2013 CES broke the previous record of 1.86 million net square feet of space (2o12 CES) by being held in a 1.92 million net square feet exhibit.

Over 3,250 exhibitors shared with the world close to 20,000 new products at the CES of 2013. Over 150,000 spectators from more than 170 countries other then the United States where in attendance.

The CES is is both owner and producee by CEA and has the unique quality of being known as the world’s largest annual innovation event.

“Innovation abounded at the 2013 CES and executives from every major industry that touches technology were here this week,” commented Gary Shapiro president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association. “From amazing new products, to CEA’s new book Ninja Innovation to our new publication- It Is Innovation (i3) innovation prevailed across 37 football fields of technology at the 2013 International CES. Our event is the biggest mobile show to kick-off the year and showcase our new mobile future.

Across 15 different categories, major products where introduced. Highlights the CES 0f 2013 included the launch of Sony’s new smart phone Xperia Z, which you can read more about here, the Huawei Ascebd Mate and ZTE Grand S.

During video displays LG showed off the new Ultra HD which will also be touchscreen. Sony introduced the first Ultra HD OLED, and Samsung gave insight to the bendable  OLED and Hisense launched its transparent 3DTV.

Other noteworthy technology advancements included the Valve SteamBox, Tobii eye recognition technology, the Kickstarter-funded Pebble smart watch, QualComm’s Vuforia augmented reality, multi-device connectivity from Ultraviolet, NF technology from LG and Sony, tabletop applications from Lenovo, MarketBot’s Replicator 2x and Samsung’s Smart TV with voice recognition.
