Burian media have announced a new upcoming Indie game, “Dark Shadows – Army of Evil”. In the game the player will take on the role of a knight who has to battle hordes of monsters to bring order to the country and save the woman he loves. The Indie game has been described as a ‘First Person Shooter medieval fantasy’ game.
Dark Shadows- Army of Evil is set in September 1362. In the game it is explained that a horde of monsters have been ‘devastating the country in a manner similar to a plague of locusts for well over a year’. The monsters target and frighten the locals with their incredibly frightening appearance and terrifying actions.
The game begins with the monsters having overtaken the Kings castle. The villains have also stolen the most of the country’s main resources which includes all of the gold, taxes and weapons from the building. The King has been injured and a woman named Katerina has been kidnapped. Katerina is the sister of one of the King’s guards and also the woman that the protagonist is in love with. The player must fight the monsters and will face a long and bloody march through the country to rescue Katerina before the monsters injure or kill her. The hero must also retrieve the kingdoms weapons, gold and resources along the way.
Dark Shadows – Army of Evil will include nineteen levels which will contain a variety of areas and terrains. According to Burian media ‘Dark Shadows- Army of Evil’ will feature ‘impressive gothic architecture and a range of environments.’ The game is said to include impressive ‘cinematic effects’ in the game. There will be 3D blood spilling scenes which will be calculated in real-time gameplay. The game during these cut cinematic scenes will generate a random camera direction and angle alongside the blood effects in order to provide a range of kill styles and cinematic scenes.
In ‘Dark Shadows – Army of Evil’, the player can use up to eighteen weapons which can be found or won during through exploration of the game world. The hero will be able to use different these different items or moves in order to fight the monsters. The player can throw a stone, use a sword, fight melee style or even use a bow and arrow. The player will have to choose the most appropriate weapons to fight against and defeat his enemies.
The expected release date for Dark Shadows – Army of Evil is September or October 2012.
Dark Shadows – Army of Evil will be released exclusively on the PC.
