E3 Command & Conquer Entering Closed Beta This Summer!

E3 is among us and we all know that means a plethora of news on the latest and greatest in gaming. Today Electronic Arts announced that Command & Conquer will be entering a closed beta this summer.

Command & Conquer has been around, well, since PC gaming began, but has lost a fair amount of steam thanks to Real Time Strategy games like Starcraft II. Developer Victory Games promises a return-to-roots approach as it brings the latest Command & Conquer to the masses.  Victory Games goes a step further claiming it is raising the bar for RTS games with unparalleled immersion, best in class visuals, and dynamic physics -all powered by the Frostbite engine. Victory Games also seeks to give players more control –more generals, strategy, and feedback in the game. Best of all, when Command & Conquer launches in 2013, it will be a “free live service”.

“The community has always been and will continue to be paramount to the success of Command & Conquer,” said Jon Van Caneghem, General Manager of Victory Games, EA. “Being a live platform, we have the freedom to be responsive and to deliver content that our players care about at launch and beyond. As developers, this sort of direct and evolving relationship with our audience is incredibly exciting and we can’t wait to hear what players think about this new Command & Conquer experience.”

The latest Command & Conquer is set in the Generals series and will feature a return to the core gameplay that put the series on the map. This includes strategic, fast-paced, high-action gameplay, and a large variety of Generals- giving players the freedom to conquer on their own terms. Each General has a unique battle style, personality, and most importantly, an arsenal at their disposal –giving players a wide variety of tactics to dominate the battlefield.

Players will get a variety of game modes to choose from, both new and classic. These include the brand new Onslaught mode –an objective based co-op mode where players defend their base from hordes of enemies, and classics like Multiplayer Deathmatch, Skirmish, and more.

Command and Conquer will launch sometime in 2013, with a closed beta scheduled for summer. For more information visit www.CommandandConquer.com
