LEGO City vehicles and toys are coming to the Wii U in LEGO City: Undercover. The title is exclusive to the Wii U, so if you were hoping to play this on your PS3 I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Players will get to be an undercover detective who goes by the name of Chase McCain. This looks promising so far. I bet at least once during this game Chase will be called a “loose-cannon” by the chief of police and will be asked to turn in his badge.
LEGO crimes have got to be terrifying since LEGO heads and limbs can be detached easily. I’m sure cops in the world of LEGO are always busy, and are so desensitized to the violent LEGO world around them that they’ve turned to drinking and gambling as a way to ease their pain. Honestly, isn’t letting kids play as a detective a bit dark? Can’t we let them be something a bit less gritty? Maybe they could be the owner of a candy store or a pet shop.
The mission of LEGO City: Undercover is to stop the crime wave initiated by the dastardly Rex Fury. It isn’t clear what sort of crimes Red Fury commits, but with a name as ridiculous as that I’m going to go with drug smuggling and counterfeiting. Players can explore the city by running, driving, and flying with over 100 vehicles, and the Wii U controller will function as a police gadget. The Wii U GamePad will work as a way to scan for hidden clues and receive mission updates. Players will also get to go undercover with a series of disguises such as a firefighter and a construction worker. Since they’re clearly working from the Village People costumes as references, don’t be surprised if you see a cowboy or biker costume in there.
