Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Coming to Nintendo

The new sequel to the Monster Hunter franchise will be available on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.

Now that we know that the next console from Nintendo will be coming out later this year and how much it will cost us, we can start speculating on how much money we would have to save up so we can get before November comes around.  However getting a console means you need some games to play on the console, and Capcom seems willing to provide a double-deal with the Wii U.  Their next sequel to the Monster Hunter franchise will be available on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U; each will utilize the unique touchscreen interface to enhance the gameplay.

The touch screen will be used in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to manage inventory while you are slashing away at giant dragons.  Players can quickly access in-game books, weapons, field maps and play some mini-games while a dragon flies sixty feet above them and uses its breath attack on them.  Each copy of the game will also take advantage of the unique display devices to the handheld and console:  The Wii U version will use the high quality graphics to show you how angry that dragon is on your living room TV; while the 3DS version will let the dragon jump out in 3D to snap at you.

What is most interesting about this Monster Hunter game is the cross compatibility between the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.  Players can take their hunters from the console and put it on the 3DS version vial local wireless connection.  So they can hunt (or mostly run from) dragons and other large creatures on the go.  3DS gamers can invite three other friends for local wireless play in their world, and exchange their guild cards to show off how awesome they are via StreetPass.  Then you can transfer the save file back from the 3DS to the Wii U so you can try taking down dragons at home.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is an exclusive action RPG from Capcom coming out in March 2013.
