Super Mario 3D World receives new power Ups, Pikmin 3 gets new downloadable stages and a new Kirby title is announced for 2014
Nintendo announced today game details and launch dates for their most anticipated titles coming this year as part of a Nintendo Direct broadcast. With Super Mario 3D World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on the Wii U and Bravely Default on Nintendo 3DS due to be released, Nintendo fans are set to receive an exciting software package in the lead up to Christmas.
Also announced today by Nintendo Direct are red and green Wii Remote plus controllers, which are set to be released in honor of probably two of the gaming worlds most loved characters, Mario & Luigi. A new addition to the Kirby series is also set to be released on the Nintendo 3DS.

Super Mario 3D world is set to contain some awesome power ups. For example, cherries that allow players to duplicate characters in addition to the Cat transformation. The game is set to launch on the 29th of November.

Sonic is confirmed as a playable character in Super Smash Bros, which is set to launch on the Wii U & Nintendo 3DS in 2014. This is Sonic’s second outing in the series, first appearing in the Super Smash Bros Brawl.
A software update is now available for Pikmin 3. The Global Ranking feature is one of the main aspects of the update, enabling players to see the world’s high scores during Mission Mode at any time. Another part of the update includes an add-on mission stage for free. The final part of the update sees players being able to purchase a new ‘Collect Treasure’ stage pack from the Nintendo eShop. Additional packs will be available at a later date.
Nintendo Direct have also announced some new Wii Remote Plus designs. Fans will have the choice between a Mario themed and a Luigi themed controller. The two new controllers are due to be released on the 8th of November.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is launching exclusively for the Wii U on the 8th of November. For the first time ever in the Mario & Sonic series, players can take themselves to the world of online gaming and challenge others from around the globe.
There are going to be four playable online events, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, Short Track Speed Skating and Winter Sports Champion Race, which combines Skiing, Ice Skating, Bobsleigh and Snowboarding into one single event. When a played wins a medal online, they win points for their home country, which can be viewed on the regularly updated online rankings.

The House Party mode in Wii Party U enables players to use both the Wii U GamePad and Wii Remote Controllers together in exciting new ways. In the Water Runners, players can use the Wii Remote to scoop water from the stream displayed on the GamePad and move it to a pitcher displayed on the TV. The packaged version of the game includes a Wii Remote Plus and a horizontal stand for the Wii U GamePad. The stand will make playing certain games a bit more interesting. The game is set to launch on the 25th of October.

Wii Karaoke U by JOYSOUND is due to be released as a download from the Nintendo eShop on the 4th of October. The app will feature 1,500 songs to begin with, with more coming after release. The app features singing modes including In-Depth Rating, which analyses each performance. Or if your really ambitious, you can try and top the rankings in the Online Rating mode.
Having been delayed in Europe, Scribblenauts Unlimited, the massive side scrolling puzzle game, is due to be released on the 6th of December in both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
To make sure fans receive an optimum gaming experience, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze will now be released in early 2014.

On top of all the game releases, a Wii U System Update is now available for download. The update delivers performance enhancements, the option to automatically receive recommended software and demos from SpotPass and a number of improvements to the browser, including the ability to upload screenshots to different websites and social networks. The update also includes the ability to output audio and video the GamePad in Wii Mode and a much more effective experience adding friends and aspects.
