Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask UK Release Date Revealed

Nintendo have announced the UK release date for Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. Professor Layton 5 will be released for 3DS throughout Europe on the 26th October.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is the first Professor Layton game for 3DS. The game will feature all new 3D animations and character models to bring added depth to the visuals. The game is the fifth in the Professor Layton series, the second in the prequel trilogy which originally began with Professor Layton and The Spectre’s Call and will finish with Professor Layton 6, which was announced yesterday.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask will pick up with Layton, Luke and Emmy a short while after the events of Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call. The trio set out to stop a mysterious ‘Masked Gentleman’ who is terrorising the city of Monte d’Or with his magically dark miracles.

Layton suspects that the events involve the Mask of Chaos, a mask which is rumoured to bestow great power upon whoever wears it. Gamers will delve into the past again during a dark episode during Layton’s college days to solve the problems of the present. The flashbacks introduce Layton’s parents and his childhood friend Randall. Players will play as the young Layton who will play a high price when discovering his passion for archaeology.

The game also features a brand new game mode that will see the young Professor Layton explore ancient ruins and requires the player to help him reach the exits of a series of puzzling chambers while avoiding a variety of obstacles and mummy enemies.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask features over 150 brand new brainteasers for players to tackle. The game will boast 365 additional puzzles which will be distributed via the Nintendo Network allowing players to play one puzzle a day for a year from the day of the game’s launch.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask will feature three new mini-games fresh from Laytons’ trunk. In the Toy Robot game players will have to control a wind-up toy robot that always moves three steps at a time whilst guiding it to the goal safely. In One-Stop Shop your skills of stocking shelves are put to the test, players will only succeed if they manage to entice customers to buy everything off the shelves in one go. In Rabbit Show players will assist Luke and train a circus rabbit that has been deemed unfit to perform by the circus master. The rabbit will learn new tricks and perform in plays to persuade his master to accept him back.

As with the recent 3DS release New Super Mario Bros 2, players will be able to buy Professor Layton and Miracle Mask in the shops on the 26th October or download it from the 3DS eShop on the 28th.
