Xbox LIVE Entertainment Gets Bigger and Better

Xbox LIVE have announced a variety of new additions and updates to their entertainment line-up this summer including updates to BBC iPlayer, Sky Now TV, Netflix and blinkbox.

A new update to the BBC iPlayer app on Xbox LIVE was released yesterday that offers catch-up access to a range of national BBC radio shows. The update will also allow listeners to view and listen to the most popular featured materials on each of the radio stations. Listeners will also be able tosearch each category in the radio listings. The radio stations available in the update include:

BBC Radio 1, BBC 1xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 6, Asian Network and BBC World Service.

Sky Now TV will allow Xbox LIVE Gold members to browse Sky’s catalogue of over 1000 films using the app on Xbox LIVE. The prices for programs range from 99p to £3.49. Movie buffs can opt for a £15 Sky Movies pass which promises the choice of more than 600 films including recent blockbusters at least a year before they are available on similar services. Sky Now TV have also announced that they plan to add to the line-up service with content from Sky Sports, Sky 1 and Sky Atlantic as part of a new upcoming entertainment pack.

The new Netflix ‘ Just for Kids’ packages will allow families to browse and watch a large collection of child friendly content. The new experience promises easy to understand search controls so that children can click and watch their favourite TV shows and movies. Each member will receive a personalised “Just for Kids” experience and recommendation list based on their individual tastes and preferences. “Just for Kids” is available now for Xbox LIVE Gold and Netflix subscribers

The blinkbox entertainment app gives Xbox LIVE Gold members the opportunity to buy and rent movies directly from their LIVE dashboard without the need for subscription like other services. Users will be able to rent or buy from a huge catalogue of over 10,000 shows and movies.
