The Brazil Game Show (BGS) has outdone itself and surprised many by confirming the title of Largest Game Show of Latin America. In its fifth year, the even has received 100,000 visitors in the three days it was open to the public (October 12th, 13th, 14th) and one day (October 11th) set up exclusively for journalist, guests and professionals in the area.
At the Brazil Game Show, more than 20 titles were presented before their expected worldwide release. Titles such as God of War: Ascension, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Halo 4, DMC Devil May Cry, Book of Spells, Lost Planet 3, Metal Gear Rising, Hitman Absolution, Assassin’s Creed 3, Order of Magic, Skylanders Giants, Bond: 007 Legends, far Cry 3, and The Avengers: Battle for Earth, and many others.
150 companies were a part of The Brazil Game Show, and all of the companies attending confirmed brand new and totally diverse attractions to the public, like the unedited presentation of the Nintendo’s Wii U in the country, a Press Conference held by Sony with the presence of journalists from all over Latin America, at which the company revealed its plans for the region, and the presence of Microsoft with the XBOX Line, in a more than 500 m2 booth.
Several major producers were present for the first time in the country, such as Katsuhiro Harado the producer of the Tekken series, Philippe Ducharme, one of the produces for Assassin’s Creed 3, and Kiki Wolfkill, executive producer of Halo 4. In addition to all the amazing appearances there were 10 competitions held with emphasis on the Brazilian League of Legends Championship, the Tournament commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Street Fight series, and AMD Brazil Game Jam.
Throughout the four days of the show, BGS collected more than 40 tons of non-perishable food, which were donated to Casa Hope, an institution that assists in the care for children and adolescents with cancer. Organizers of the event appreciate all of the help and participation of the visitors, which was a major part to the success of this initiative.
The Brazil Game Show had a turnover of approximately $50 million in business and promoted over 1,000 business meetings through its Matchmaking System. This was one of the main innovations of the 2012 show and should be expected in next year’s show as well.
