Disney Interactive has announced the immediate availability of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two,” is the sequel to “Disney Epic Mickey” for the Nintendo Wii.
The game is now available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. Epic Mickey 2 will also be available from the 30th November for the Nintendo Wii U system. Additionally, “Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion” for the Nintendo 3DS is now available worldwide.
In “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two,” gamers will once again play as Mickey Mouse. Players will also for the first time ever play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star, in an all-new adventure of creativity and discovery. The game is created by Warren Spector and Disney Interactive Junction Point game development studio. In Epic Mickey 2 Mickey will once again return to the Wasteland, an alternate wold filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and attractions. In the game Mickey and Oswald will join forces. Mickey will wield his magical paint brush and Oswald controls a powerful remote to command electricity.
Warren Spector spoke about the game stating:
“Mickey Mouse is one of the most beloved characters of all time.” … “I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to once again help craft his latest journey and at the same time bring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit back in such an amazing and innovative way. This allows this once forgotten silent cartoon star to get a voice for the first time in history.”
The game’s new co-op play between Mickey and Oswald further promotes the idea that “PlayStyle Matters”. PlayStyle Matters is a unique gameplay pioneered by Warren Spector. The scheme allows players to dynamically tackle different challenges in order to explore a number of storylines with consequences for their chosen actions.
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” also features a unique soundtrack created by Emmy award-winning composer, Jim Dooley and songwriter Mike Himelstein. Epic Mickey 2 is set to be the first-ever video game musical.
Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for the Nintendo 3DS was created alongside Epic Mickey 2 by DreamRift. The game offers a unique drawing and painting functionality to allow gamers to create rough versions of objects that magically transform into classic Disney-style 2D illustrations. Players can then move their creations to the top screen of the 3DS where they are further transformed into full-color, fully-rendered 3D visuals. Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion pays tribute to the Sega Genesis classic “Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse.” The game focuses on the fabled Castle of Illusion which has fallen into Wasteland alongside the evil witch Mizrabel. In the game players will take on the role of Mickey Mouse as he utilises his magical paint and thinner to confront the evil witch and save the Toons of Wasteland.
“Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is now available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for a suggested retail price of £32.99 and Wii for a suggested retail price of £24.99. The game will also be released for the Wii U on the 30th November.
