Offline Play Comes to SimCity in New Single-Player Mode, Available for All Owners
The long anticipated feature that fans of the game Simcity have been begging for has finally been released. EA announced that Simcity Offline Mode is now available and that gamers do not have to have a constant connection to the internet. The update is a download with no cost, and the new single-player mode will allow players to build up their cities and then destroy them however they want.
Patrick Buechner, GM of Maxis Emeryville, shared some of the features and his excitement about the new update:
We’ve listened to our players and today we are delivering against their most direct feedback with the release of the new Single-Player Mode. Player feedback has helped us deliver 10 major gameplay Updates that have improved the experience with better tuning, new features and free content. This is the most definitive SimCity experience whether you choose to play Online or Offline.
Simcity when first designed by the company was envisioned with an online-always mode that required players to have a consistent connection to the internet. Maxis has now changed up the formula by using the GlassBox engine for players to have similar gameplay experiences as those online.
When gamers boot up the game they will receive the update and be given the option to choose to play online or off. All the features are the same as online except for players can decide when to save their progress.
