Sleeping Dogs, the open world cop drama from United Front Games and in collaboration with Square Enix will hit stores August 14th in the US and August 17th in the UK and other PAL territories. However developers have announced that more Sleeping Dogs content is planned to release later this year.
Sleeping Dogs is a gritty open world cop drama set in the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Players will take the role of undercover cop Wei Shen, and are given the task of infiltrating and taking down one of the city’s most fearsome criminal gangs.
Square Enix have already promised that a range of new downloads will be available from day one in order to help players ‘get ahead of the game’ .These download packs include the 80s-inspired Retro Triad Pack, a “killer old school outfit with its own player buffs” and “funky kung-fu van.”. More content has also been outlined for release in September which includes a high speed racing pack and an ‘explosive’ SWAT content pack.
Developers have also announced new plans for an extra six months of further DLC. The DLC which is currently in development will include extra content packs varying from car and clothing packs, to extra game extending missions and side quests packs.
Lee Singleton, the General Manager of Square Enix London Studios commented on the upcoming DLC campaign stating:
“SLEEPING DOGS is a game we know fans will want to keep on playing, so over the next six months we’ll be creating a series of new content packs giving players everything they need to keep enjoying the game,”…” We want to create something to suit everyone’s play style from cool cars and high-speed missions to outlandish outfits and game-extending mission packs. The game launch is just the beginning.”
No price has yet been given for the upcoming content packs. The first SLEEPING DOGS content packs will be available from launch on the Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and Steam.
