The Nintendo 3DS I believe has proven something to the industry. It has proved that although the smart phone/tablet markets are strong competition, there will always be a audience for the Nintendo handheld consoles. Although I won’t be expecting Nintendo to be taking over September anytime soon, October will also be a big month for the handheld. Etrain Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl, Pokemon X/Y, Rune Factory 4, Skylanders Swap Force, Sonic Lost World, and Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate will all be coming out for the month of October. There is a lot of competition in october, but don’t be surprise to see Pokemon X/Y at the number one spot. Nintendo has been pushing Pokemon X/Y and I am sure it will be a huge success. Many other games are aslo set to release the 4th Quarter such as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorny Dual Destinies, Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8 bit land, Mario Party, and Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!! are all expected to release this year. The console has a very attractive price, and with the right sales this holiday season; you might see the console claim the months of October and December as well. Wii U owners will also have a lot to buy considering the fact that Pikmin 3 was just released, and The Wonderful 101, The legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Super Mario 3D World will all be releasing later this year
*Data regarding physical sales of games in July are from the NPD Group. Data regarding digital downloads of games and combined physical/digital life-to-date numbers are from Nintendo’s internal sales figures. All numbers are specific to the United States only.
