Turtle Beach Expands Its Ear Force Series To The WiiU

Today Turtle Beach announced it will launch two officially licensed wired headsets, the Ear Force NLa & Ear Force N11, for the Wii U in Q4 2012. The headsets were created in collaboration with Nintendo and promise to bring high-fidelity audio & superior comfort to Wii U gamers at an affordable price. “We are very excited to be working with Turtle Beach to launch the N11 and NLa for the new Wii U,” said Steve Singer, Vice President of Licensing, Nintendo of America Inc. “We look forward to fans having a high quality audio experience with our newest console.”

The Ear Force NLa will be available in black or white and will combine high-fidelity audio with crystal clear communication into a sleek, lightweight & durable design. Furthermore, the NLa features in-line volume control & noise-isolating ear cushions allowing for personalized audio while blocking out distractions. The NLa will MSRP at $34.95 USD.

Gamers that want a more immersive audio experience will want to consider purchasing the Ear Force N11. The N11 features acoustically angled 50mm speakers with extended bass & extraordinary dynamic range allowing for optimum audio performance. In addition the N11 has an around-the-ear design with a fully adjustable lightweight headband & breathable mesh cushions.  The N11 comes only in black & will MSRP at $49.95 USD.

“The Wii U launch will prove to be one of biggest gaming console events of the year and we couldn’t be more excited to support Wii U with dedicated headsets,” said Bob Picunko, Chief Marketing Officer of Turtle Beach. “The advanced capabilities of the Wii U system offer us the chance to deliver gamers the kind of quality they fully expect from both Turtle Beach and Nintendo.”

Interestingly, both the NLa and N11 are designed specifically for the Wii U GamePad controller, but will also be compatible with portable devices such as the Nintendo DS & 3DS via a 4-pole connector. There was no mention of PC or cross-console compatibility with the NLa or N11, but seeing as they are officially licensed Nintendo products I doubt there will be.

It’s not unusual to see a plethora of third-party peripheral devices drop with the launch of a new system. Many of these seem semi-worthless as they tend to fall apart in your hands after only a couple of uses.  Speaking from experience, Turtle Beach headsets are pretty solid and can handle everyday wear & tear & still perform as promised. What are your thoughts on the Ear force NLa & N11? Do you think Turtle Beach will also be releasing a wireless high-end model in the near future?  Let us know in the comments below.
