Nintendo UK National StreetPass Day

Nintendo UK National StreetPass Day

Nintendo UK have announced a special event on the 28th September, at Manchester Piccadilly Station and Waterloo Station in London, to reward 3DS owners.

The event, dubbed ‘National StreetPass Day’, comes just after the release of some major updates for Nintendo StreetPass. For those that don’t know, StreetPass is a service that allows Nintendo 3DS owners to connect with one another and share snippets of games, game data, rewards and unlockables. Previously the information was all transmitted whenever two 3DS owners were near to one another, but the recent update introduced a new feature called StreetPass Relay. This means that if 3DS owners visit a location that is a “Nintendo Zone”, then their data is left behind in the area, and the next 3DS owner to visit that location can connect with the first without having to ever actually be in the same place at the same time. This guarantees to increase hits and rewards from StreetPass, especially for those in quieter or more rural locales.

The event will feature a whole host of Nintendo themed goodies, including exclusive competitions and prizes on games such as Mario Kart 7 and Luigi’s Mansion 2, the chance to take photos will some life-size Nintendo characters and even the chances to take part in some life-size, real-world 3DS games that are being recreated, including the StreetPass game Puzzle Swap. The congregation of players means that it’s also the perfect chance to increase StreetPass hits by meeting other players.

The Nintendo characters available will vary between Manchester and London, with a life-size Luigi available for photos at the Manchester station, while Pokemon fans will want to be at Waterloo in London, where Oshawott, Tepig and Snivy will be available for photos!

There will be other StreetPass events on 28th September as well, including at the Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham, where Mario Kart 7 competitions will be running throughout the day. Gamers at the Eurogamer Expo in London, King’s Cross, will also get the chance to pick up some prizes, with Mario hats being given away to anyone who shows their wristband.

Don’t miss out! If you’re a 3DS owner make sure you’re at one of these locations on the morning of September 28th!
