This week Nintendo brings its WiiU and 3DS users a whole bunch of exciting new content for the systems. We have the announcement of a new Mario & Luigi game, celebrating their 30th anniversary – which therefore means you get discounted DLC on New Super Mario Bros.™ 2! In addition to that, we have the launch of a brand new Pokémon game, Pokémon Rumble U.
Firstly, we have the Wii U listings – with a lot of content to offer this week including a remake of popular classic game and the release of several new games which are available to buy at retail or digitally through the Nintendo eShop.
Pokémon Rumble U is the latest Pokémon title for the WiiU and is a tale of the toy Pokémon’s great adventure, after a little trouble in the toy Pokémon shop, a few Pokémon capsules are swept down a river bank and players are challenged with fighting to get the toy Pokémons back to the toy store! Pokémon Rumble U will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £13.49 (€14.99) on Thursday 15th August.
DuckTales: Remastered the classic game from CapCom has been remastered and releases this week for the WiiU; the story aspect is still the same as the original, where you have to embark on an adventure, as Scrooge McDuck with his three nephews: Huey, Dewey and Louie to travel to exotic locations throughout the world in their quest to retrieve the five Legendary Treasures.The glorious 8-bit design has been maintained and only the smoothness of the game has been altered, to provide players with a smooth gameplay experience on the Wii U. DuckTales: Remastered will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £13.49 (€14.99) on Thursday 15th August.
Not many games have been sent to the Wii Shop Channel for sale, in recent weeks, but this week you will see a fan-favourite classic added to the Wii Shop Channel! This shows that developers are still showing their continued support in the original Wii console as well as Nintendo’s latest console – the Wii U.
Nam-1975 originally released in 1990, for the Neo Geo, Nam 1975 makes a return to the console where players are thrown into a war zone, playing as a American Special Forces Soldier in a third-person “shoot ’em up” style, fighting your way through, whilst dodging bullets left, right and centre as you, the protagonist, gets fired upon ferociously by the enemy. You are equipped with a machine gun and other fire arms, which you can interchange with other machinery that can be picked up on the battlefield. You also have the ability to run extremely fast to dodge those tricky situations, think you are up to the challenge? Nam-1975 will be available from the Wii Shop Channel for 900 points on Thursday 15th August.
This week, Nintendo are giving 3DS users a whole host of games to pick and play including two classic NES games! With the release of the Nintendo 3DS XL in black this week, you can pick up the new handheld portable console and get these great games once you have set it up!
Summer Carnival ’92 RECCA was first playable on the NES in 1992 and was one of the very few games to push the boundaries of the NES and getting it to play at extreme speeds with fast load times! You must battle through stages, which are swarming with attacking enemies, picking up collectibles as you fight through as well as additional weaponry to help you survive as the levels get more difficult as you progress through the levels. If you think you can survive a few seconds without getting obliterated then you should hold fire and your plasma metre will fill allowing it to be used as a shield or launched as a huge plasma bomb! The soundtrack will keep you on the edge of your seat with a constant beat to keep you focussed on the game, the music for the game has been noted as one of the best ever soundtracks on the NES! Music aside, the intense action game will keep you playing for hours until you have beat the final level. Star Soldier is Nintendo’s second NES game for the 3DS this week and it is a great one too! You pilot the starship Caesar to complete the one aim: defeat the evil Star Brain and its enemies in this classic NES shoot ’em up port. Star Soldier was the iconic NES game that spawned Hudson Soft’s long-running series of Soldier titles. Hop aboard into your ship and travel through 16 deadly stages across the enormous space station collecting power capsules, which are vital to your success as they increase the fire power, speed and shields of your cruiser – make sure to collect as many of those as possible to get your way to stage 16 to defeat the evil Star Brain! Star Soldier will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £4.49 (€4.99) on Thursday 15th August.
Etrian Odyssey™IV: Legends of the Titan is this week’s demo to give you an insight into the latest game in the franchise. Etrian Odyssey™IV improves dramatically from its predecessor with an enhanced graphics engine which allows for all new-looking enemies and objects in the game; also included, because of the improved graphics engine, is: new 3d special effects and animations as well as upgrades and customizable ships, to provide you with the most enjoyable game experience. With an orchestrated musical score from Yuzo Koshiro, you are bound to love the fourth game in the series! Etrian Odyssey™IV: Legends of the Titan will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for free on Thursday 15th August.
Jewel Quest IV: Heritage gives you the challenge to explore the shrines and castles of Hernan Cortes’ lore as you play as Rupert, trading jewels and collecting puzzle pieces to reveal a mound of family history. There is over 170 jewel boards in the game, which include three different jewel-swapping modes; a new challenge and a surprise awaits in every level, try to find as many jewels as possible and all of the puzzle pieces to fully unravel the heritage’s long family history. Jewel Quest 4 Heritage will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £10.79 (€11.99) on Thursday 15th August.
Bike Rider DX the perfect racing game for newcomers and experienced gamers! You can ride your bike on bumpy roads, deep valleys whilst dodging various obstacles; there is two game modes: World Tour and Grand Prix. In World Tour you have to try and get to the number 1 spot by racing across the globe, in many different countries, to be the champion of the World Tour. Grand Prix mode is endless, so you can play as many races, over and over again, as you like until you get the high score! With the ability to use a wrath of different power-up items and fun gimmicks, such as giant whirlwinds, you will be sure to enjoy your experience with simple controls and over 60 levels to master. Heavy Fire: Black Arms 3D Deep within the overgrown jungles of South America, you play as Will, a soldier in a highly trained US marine unit, whose job it is to take down the largest international arms trafficking cartel known as Fuerza de Voluntad. You play as one of the most experienced marines but be ready to charge through the treacherous jungle environment to put an end to the heated war. Prepare yourself as you are tasked with shotting down enemy aircrafts as well as smashing through and interacting with the hostile environment, in this awesome military 3D shooter. You have the chance to ride aboard helicopters and tanks aiming to vanquish the entire cartel with the use of powerful upgradable weapons for a total military show down! Sudoku by Nikoli provides you with the classic sudoku experience on a clean, smooth interface for the 3DS. The game tasks you with completing 50 different sudoku puzzles in two different game modes: Stage Clear and Random. Stage Clear mode is a progressive mode where as you complete the one puzzle the next puzzle will be more difficult whereas in Random mode, a puzzle will be generated at random and the difficulty could be really easy or really hard! Secret Mysteries in London Set in 1920’s London, a Politician is found to be murdered in a park, and the local police call on you – Oscar Gaebelein, a young forensic scientist to assist them in the inquiry. You and your team investigate the murder but soon realize that this first murder is only the beginning of a sinister bread crumb trail. You are challenged throughout the game with finding clues to solve the case and find the murderer ; a great game for anyone who likes a challenge! Secret Mysteries in London will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £10.79 (€11.99) on Thursday 15th August.
Barbie™ Groom and Glam Pups™ is a virtual pet game that allows you to groom, train, dress and show off your very own show puppy, but be careful because your mentor, Barbie, is keeping a close eye on you and the competiton. The game features six different types of dog breed, all in form of a puppy, for you to use to win the competition! Additional features include: realistic grooming activities, the ability train your pups to do outrageous tricks that they can perform on the catwalk, customizable puppy costumes and in-game photo shoot functionality for puppies. Barbie™ Groom and Glam Pups™will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £24.99 (€29.99) on Thursday 15th August.
Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ allows the player to create loops of music with a wide range of instruments, including drums and guitars, to choose from. You can play your created music live by playing solo mode and play it in front of a live audience! The music interface is easy to get to grips with and you can create your first track within minutes! Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ will be available from the Nintendo e-Shop for £8.99 (€9.99) and from the DSi Shop for 1000 points on Thursday 15th August.
