New Multiplayer Trailer Emerges for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Carry around your own chest-high walls or drive your own bipedal tank in the multiplayer portion of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Activision keeps dropping small pieces of kernel for us writers to fight over in the pond so we can get it to you as fast as possible. The first piece of bread gave us hints on how the main protagonist in the first game, Mason, is doing now that he is an old man and who the villain might be. The second crumb was the reveal that the writer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the same writer that worked on the second installment to Nolan North’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight. Now a new trailer shows off how we can murder our friends with new military weapons, especially with those cool new robots we’re promised in 2025.

It seems like the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will have familiar mechanics to previous installments: Glue the handle of guns to heads of faceless grunts and get some headshots into target X meters away. Throw in some grief-kills like stabbing someone from across the map with a knife, and you got a Call of Duty game that actually shows a knife working well in a gun-fight. But like a good James Bond film, there are new gadgets to make combat more exciting. Now there seems to be some kind of body detection built into some guns so they can detect hostile targets behind walls or in smoke. Players can now hide somewhere in the map and fly a drone around, to rain bullets on their targets. Or if you’re one of the few gamers that like showing off your new toys to your friends – violently – why not hop into your own bipedal tank with two machine guns for arms? Looks like Activision made a deal with OCP to get ED-209.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is scheduled for release this November, 2012 on the Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
