Responsible for the sales across Europe will be Nintendo of Europe, with SEGA remaining as the main publisher. Sonic Boom: The Rise of Lyric for Wii U, is being developed by Big Red Button Studios, while Sanzaru games will develop the 3DS title Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. In these new titles a brand new foe that forces the Sonic Team to use all their strength will rise – Lyric.

Both games will feature classic characters such as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy as they fight together against Lyric. The newest villain Lyric, is a large snake-like creature that belongs to a ancient race.

By using his technology, Lyric advances his evil schemes to create a robotic army to take over the world. Both games will take advantage of the Sonic characters by using unique gameplay mechanics, while Sonic Boom: The Rise of Lyric, will use the well known CRYENGINE, becoming the first Wii U game to use this engine by creating beautiful landscapes.

All kinds of situations will arise while fighting the evil Lyric from high speed runs, intense new combat, and fresh abilities such as the Enerbeam which allows players to transport across large gaps, throwing enemies, and exploring other areas of the game.
